Animated American is an amazing animation which combines live-action with 2D animation, and does it flawlessly. James Baker creates an animation which rivals Space Jam (1996), Cool World (1992) and even Who framed Roger Rabbit (1988). The story revolves around the transition from traditional to CGI and the toon's views on the matter and the toll it takes on their lives. Cartoons are forced to find other work outside of the entertainment industry; dog walkers, manual labor, retail jobs, and if they can't find work then they are forced onto the streets.
This is a similar concept to When Dreams Became Data, focusing on the shift between traditional animation and CGI animation. Although my video is focusing on the animation industry directly, this short animation uses symbolism to represent the animation industry nowadays. I found this animation brilliant and fantastically made, and with such an amazing reception with all the awards and nominees it received it is surprising that I only came across this gem only recently.
